Update 12

Bonjour,
Since my last update we sailed from St. Florent to Calvi with a stop at a magnificent beach in the Baie Saleccia then on to Ile Rousse. The beach was only accessible by hiking in or by boat. As you can see in the slideshow the water is crystal clear. We spent several hours there then anchored in the harbor at Ile Rousse. The village is small and the prices somewhat less than Calvi. The next morning we continued on to Calvi, a much larger town. The harbor at Calvi has views of the mountains to the East, some rising to over 7,000ft and still showing some snow on the peak. Several military planes have been flying over the harbor and dropping paratroopers. It was Rande and Ceal’s last night on Sea Star so we ate out at a restaurant away from the tourist crowd by the harbor (recommended by a local). Rande and I had Wild Corsican Black Boar, excellent! The next morning Rande and Ceal left to spend a few days in Nice before flying home. Cindy and I spent the day in Calvi doing laundry and some food shopping. Today we motored back to Ile Rousse where we will stay until Sunday then go back to Calvi to meet Herb & Shelley.
The trip this year has been better than I imagined. Every village has been unique and the weather could not be better. The days are in the high 70’s and the nights cool down into the mid 60’s. The water is a nice temperature, about 77-78, refreshing. We anchor out almost every night, something we were only able to do a few times all last summer. We do our best to keep the local vineyards in business as you can see in the attached photo of the corks. We love getting e-mail so write us back.
Paul and Cindy
