Update 08 - Tuscany

Hi Everyone,
We are on the last day of our Tuscany road trip. It has been three perfect days. We left the marina on Wednesday and drove to the small hill top village of Volterra. We stayed in an 11th century Abbey with views that were spectacular as an added bonus the cost was 34 Euro with breakfast!
The next day we drove to Sienna, visited Il Campo, then on to Florence. Herb let me use his GPS with the roadmaps of Europe, without it we would still be wandering around the countryside I’m sure. Yesterday morning we had tickets to the Accademia and saw the famous “David” statue carved from marble by Michelangelo. I’m told he fashioned it after the one we have in the courtyard at the Ringling Museum! After leaving Florence we stopped at Cortona, the village where “Under the Tuscan Sun” movie was filmed. While there we saw Juliette Binoche filming and were told Anthony Hopkins was there as well on holiday, not filming. Cortona was one of our favorite stops. Next we continued on to Montepulciano with a stop at a local vineyard to sample a little wine. Excellent. We decided to stay in the country rather than in the village and the Tourist Office found us incredible rooms in a winery, the view from our window overlooks the hills and vineyards, truly beautiful.
Slideshow attached, more later it’s time for breakfast and then back to Sea Star.
