Listed below, and marked on the map, are some of the residents Of the Land of the Deplorable's.
A) Annie Oakley. Born 1860. Phoebe Ann Mosey, a poor Quaker, lived in a wooden cabin. Became great "Miss Sure Shot", because she grew up in the best pheasant hunting area. As a teenager she learned how to shoot while supported her family by shooting pheasants and taking them to market. Her younger half-sister, was Emily Brumbaugh. {My sister who died at birth was Emily Brumbaugh). (See the Garst Museum).

B) Lowell Thomas. Born on a farm north of Versailles. His father was a doctor who moved him to Colorado. But he came back to go to Greenville high school.. While Lowell was a famous radio broadcaster, we listened to him almost every evening all during the second world war, he also had most interesting other careers. First he discovered and publicized Lawrence of Arabia. Secondly, he was a founder of the famous Explorers Club. He was an ardent explorer and student of Tibet. When China took over the country he went to see the Dalai Lama and then to Beijing, where he gave a broadcast lambasting the Chinese Communist Party. Lifelong friend of my grandfather Coppock and of my parents, he returned to Greenville many times. Dad introduced him to his second wife. (See the Garst Museum).

C) Orval and Wilbur Wright. Dayton Ohio, 35 miles south of Greenville. Their father was­ the bishop of the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Dayton ; the Brumbaugh family church.

D) Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon. Birthplace and high school, Wapakpneta, Ohio. Know it well, wonderful little town.

E) Gene Reigle. National champion, little brown job champion, harness horse racing sulky. Good friend of my dad's; dad kept a trotter in his barn.
Matt Light. Boston patriots football six times All-Pro tackle. Grandmother and F) grandfather family friends. They managed Wayne Lakes for grandfather Coppock.

G) Kate Steinle. Famous but, awful story. Murdered San Francisco by illegal immigrant in "sanctuary city". Grandfather, Jim Steinle our neighbor and wonderful friend.

H) Ambassador Jeffrey Feltman, Under Secretary of State Middle Eastern affairs. Under the direction of Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, in charge of Libya diplomacy. Advised against invasion. Spent time in Benghazi. Sec. Clinton ignored his advice, and then assign him to the United Nations ;promised and when she was president, under Secretary of State position. His grandfather good friend of my dad. His father and mother my high school friends. His mother worked at the second national Bank. His dad told me of his giving Sec. Clinton advice that was not well received.

I - Out of Greenville friends and deplorable's.
a) Gary Stemley. Gary's dad owned a tomato canning factory. Dad was his lawyer. Knew Gary fromchildhood. We once hitchhiked back east, me to Princeton and Gary to West Point. Later in life, general in charge of logistics for Desert Storm, Iraqi invasion.

b) Johnny Kinzel. His father and mother close friends of my parents. Saw each other from childhood. Senior year defeated his team in football. He became the first quarterback EVER for the Air Force Academy. Later a general in the Air Force.

c) Bill McCullough. United States Congressman who was minority head of the Judiciary Committee. Savings He (!) Wrote the Civil Rights Act, not the Democratic leader. Fishing partner uncle Edward Hole. Good friend of granddad Coppock. (Dad declined the offer to run for Congress against Bill McCullough, dad saying that he, dad, would only get 30% of the vote.)

d) David Meeker. Chairman of the board and CEO of Hobart Manufacturing, KitchenAid products, Troy Ohio. Grew up in Greenville. Close family friends. Kept KitchenAid plant in Greenville after my dad asking not to move it to Troy. It now the largest employer in Greenville. Mr Meeker nice to me when I was in Tipp city , sponsored me up for membership at the Troy country club. Told me he learned how to work when he worked as a boy for granddad Coppock.

e) John Sweeterman. Publisher, CEO Washington Post. Founder Washington Nationals baseball team. (Now Texas Rangers). My father-in-law. Wonderful man!

X. Real Deplorable!! The Kiev Story. When I returned to Ohio in 1985, good friends of my parents, the Kecks, invited me to dinner at their home in Union City Indiana. (They also lived in Naples.) Mr.Keck Owned the Union City Body Company which manufactured truck aluminum for bodies UPS. I had just returned from my Russia trip. As we discussed Russia, Mrs.Keck told her family story. She had been raised in the Ukraine in Kiev. Ukrainians detested the Russians and welcome the Nazis as liberators. The Nazis appointed her father as mayor of Kiev. When the Russians retook the Kiev, Mrs. Keck said they hung her father and brother in the town square!

Y. Real Deplorable!!. Lynn, Indiana the of birthplace Rev. Jim Jones. Famously known as Kool-Aid Jim Jones who took his congregation from San Francisco to Guiana. Their a "death cult".When discovered, he poisoned them all and killed a congressm who was investigating them! He then with his team committed suicide! Famous story.

Z. Real Deplorables!! Arcanum The bloodiest day ever for the FBI! The birthplace of William Mattix. He and his partner in crime, cruised Miami in 1984 committing numerous violent robberies. The FBI trailed them in five cars through Miami on US 1. An ongoing shootout that killed two FBI agents in series wounded three others, before killing Mattix and partner!
