A). Art
1). Fred Glass. The Battle of Fort Dearborn 1812. (See Closson's brochure). Fred Glass was a renowned mural painter. He was hired by country of Japan to do murals commemorating their defeat of the Russian Navy. He was also commissioned by the Philippines to commemorate their independence.. The massacre at Fort Dearborn 1812 were paintings with the William Wells tragic trip to the Fort at the beginning of the war of 1812. It was the study for a very large set of murals at the1933 exposition in Chicago. I was interested because William Wells was the scout for Anthony Wayne and was most useful in defeating the Indians at Fallen Timbers ; hence the Treaty of Greenville. About 1990 I was visiting Closson's, Cincinnati, to purchase Japanese art.. I saw the Fred Glass collection and had to have it . The problem was the woman from Illinois had already put down a 20% deposit. I left my name with the store. Incredibly, a couple weeks later, I received a call from the store saying that the woman had not purchased it. With great luck I was able to acquire one of my favorite art, history collections. (If not sold, the collection could be donated to the Chicago Historical Society).

1a). Fred Glass. Two other small paintings of Indians on horseback etc. Bought them at a later auction.

2). Andy Warhol. Annie Oakley. When living in Dayton I had a good friend (Extremely Wealthy father owned Crown Lift Trucks, and he had 14 houses). He and his wife had a fine arts gallery in Oakwood, Dayton. I bought two Andy Warhol's. Mao and Annie. Paid less than 3000 for each. Naturally, I had to,Annie being from Greenville and her half-siste having the same name as sister Emily Brumbaugh. (I had studied China and Mao while in Washington and had painted before Andy Warhol, but from the same propaganda poster of Mao as Warhol. Andy Warhol was kind to Mao,. I portrayed him as the evil dictator that he was!

3). EI Couse. Two paintings of Indians. Couse was the famous Western artist who painted in Taos, New Mexico (circa 1900). Purchased at auction Jackson Hole.
Paintings are quite valuable. Contact El Couse Museum Taos, New Mexico.

3a).L.E.Jerslid. Painting looks identical to El Cause's work. Saw it in a Cincinnati auction and bought it for $320. (Such a deal! ,El Couse paintings of the same size sell from $30-$50,000.) I inquired of the El Couse Museum and they said that the artist was one of many studied at the Taos school. I want visit Taos take the paintings and ask the museum for a more clear evaluation.

4).Orland Joe. I Oreland Joe ledger art paintings. Good friend of my close friend Bill
OIiman Must see his re and the story the story Florida collection stories. Two of his paintings and Wyoming, one in Florida.

5) Patrick Hughes. The Grand Teton. Art above my desk in my den. Patrick Hug unique Art Form; construction that made buildings objects appear to move. (See see bio Patrick Hughes). He mostly painted Europe and United States, large buildings etc. I was at a first class art show, of all places, at the train station in Washington DC. He had a number of his pieces for sale. All were about cities buildings, except one, The Grand Teton. Had to have. Most unique for Jackson Hole. Sure local art dealer would love to have it.

6) Richard Murray. Bear Walking Out of Frame. Richard Murray nu painted number of these type of paintings where the animals walk out of the picture. Murray was very popular 20 years ago. Hard to find his art today. Have owned for years. Sort of unique.

7) Hugo Diez. Three Indians On Horseback. Beautiful rendition of "Outback" Argentina. Another, had to have painting. Sally and I were in Buenos Aires over 20 years ago. Next to our hotel was a wonderful art gallery. In the window was the painting. Bought it on the spot! We went home; it didn't arrive for six weeks. Quite worried, but then one of my favorite paintings came galloping in.!

8) Custer's Last Stand. Not Sally's favorite, but I think it's great. Done by an amateur, a barber from little town in Montana.I think the best of folk art.

9) Ace Powel. Taken the Kinks Out. I was reading about Western art. Discovered Ace! The piece not unique nor particularly valuable. But the sculptor in the 1940s was a top class rodeo bronco rider. A real Western character.who knew what he was doing.

Remainder of our Wyoming Art collection;many interesting stories. Sally has them all.
